Bisexual News & More . . . Macklemore, That Is

Sorry for the lack of posts; 2013 has started off by keeping me quite occupied.

Here are some recent stories concerning bisexuality, all thanks to the Huffington Post:

• A.J. Walkley continues her new series on bisexuality, asking the question: "Why would someone not want to identify as bisexual?"
• Patrick RichardsFink offers some great advice for guys thinking about coming out as bisexual.
• Lauren Michelle Kinsey roundups the top bisexual news of 2012 (but what about Frank Ocean?).

Are Bisexuals Really A Minority?

An April 2011 study conducted by the Williams Institute found that the total number of self-identified bisexuals is apparently greater than the combined number of gay- and lesbian-identified people in the United States.

Numbers are of course hard to nail down, but this helps demonstrate that bisexuality is not a "phase," especially among women, who look likely to identify as bisexual than lesbian.  Bisexual men, on the other hand, remain a minority in the gay/bisexual community.

If you thought sexuality, gender, and identity were pretty straightforward (no pun intended!), then check out this document thanks to gender outlaw Kate Bornstein.  185 identities and labels listed, and this certainly isn't the end either (P.S. Bisexual was number 1!).  I'll admit, I don't even know what some of them mean, but I'm glad Bornstein put this together to help us realize the world is all sorts of shades of grey and certainly not black and white only.
